Green building
Several sustainable strategies are being proposed in the design. These include both Passive and active systems. The proposed building entry doors shall be oriented north when applicable to maximize the benefits of natural light and eliminate south exposure heat gain. The modular 4x8 grid design shall reduce waste in lumber and finish materials.
Tesla solar tiles are proposed as integral part of the roof. Alternatively, the owner
May choose to use asphalt shingles with a high albedo and install solar panels
Instead. The owner may also choose to purchase a tesla powerwall.
Water harvesting thought water barrels are proposed as part of the roof water
Management.
A solar water heater is proposed as part of the basis of design. Innovative construction methods & affordability the ADU was conceived as a 4x4 grid in plan view and a 4x8 wall composition. This modular approach reduces construction waste and allows free-flow & versatile living spaces. The modular materials and construction methods allow for a universal, fast & efficient build. This translates into a low cost per square foot and a low maintenance operability of the ADU. Windows and sliding doors are kept at 4-ft increments to match the panel modules.
