Originally built in 1993, this Manchester by the Sea home required updated systems and a cosmetic recharge, leading the homeowners and C&M to design a total interior remodel along with a dramatic exterior makeover. The owners envisioned brighter, more comfortable spaces and, as admirers of the Shingle-style, they wanted the house to reflect a nineteenth-century seaside cottage aesthetic. C&M’s Woodworking department led a selective demolition of the interior, enhancing the rooms with distinctive paneling, built-ins, cabinetry, and trim. The exterior is wrapped in cedar shingles including newly conceived custom decorative shingle details including a unique rope-and-lattice porch screen.
