"When Gemi Sasson-Brickson and Eric Brickson decided it was time to remodel their 1989 kitchen, they knew they wanted to replace the worn oak cabinets with modern-looking maple cabinets with slab doors and European-style hardware. Selecting those, the floor tiles, and the quartz countertop was the easy part. But locally, they weren’t finding the backsplash options in the bright, sunny colors they wanted. Finding just the right tiles was starting to seem like a hopeless endeavor.
An extensive internet search (mostly on Pinterest) finally led Gemi to Susan Jablon Mosaics, where she found every color imaginable in a variety of finishes and patterns. It was a self-decorator’s dream. After ordering countless samples, Gemi used the custom mosaic designer to produce her own layouts and color combos. Because she couldn’t decide on just one color, she combined various oranges (apricot and retro orange) and greens (lime and celery) to get just the right blend to compliment the rest of the kitchen décor.
While the cabinets, floor, and counter all have a clean modern look in neutral colors, the Susan Jablon backsplash gave the kitchen that definite ‘Wow!’ factor. This remodel was their biggest project since buying the house at a sheriff’s auction sixteen years ago, but already they’re planning how to incorporate Susan Jablon tiles again when it’s time to re-do the main bathroom."
