The setting was a mild Toronto winter (2016) – and even though it was quite drab – I was inspired to paint a winter scene with buildings! I came across this image and loved the quiet, peaceful sense about it. I focused on blocks of dominant colours from the photograph and enhanced the colours where the composition would allow me.
