I’ve been working with these wonderful clients, John and Jane, for the last five years. First, I worked on their separate houses in Virginia before they got married, and now finally on their forever home as a married couple in Delaware.

Starting in summer 2023, from the ground up, I helped with decisions on colors, finishes, lighting, and interior architectural details, and of course, furnishings! We worked remotely from construction documents and through lots of email chains, and finally a few in-studio meetings to finalize decisions.

Living close to the beach, John and Jane asked for a coastal vibe without the house feeling nautical. This meant no seashells, fish, or driftwood. I wanted to give them the fresh and airy feeling that the shore evokes, but in a subtle way. I achieved this by introducing light natural woods, sandy-colored neutral fabrics, linen-like materials, and small pops of blues. We mixed metals throughout the house and transitioned between different blue-toned accents to add dimension and help define the spaces.

Although it was my first time actually in their home, I feel like I've walked through these rooms 100x. Seeing everything come together is wonderful, and knowing how much they love their forever home is even better.
