Coffee Table
The Ambrosia table is made of Québec’s most unique maple varieties available. This table is made of red species of maple (Acer Rubrum), Tender maple that presents flaws due to the striped Ambrosia beetle.
The Ambrosia beetles get their names from symbiotic relationships they maintain with the Ambrosia mushrooms - growing in the galleries dug into the wood. The Ambrosia beetle is about 1 mm to 2 mm long and digs galleries in the sapwood (around the heart) of recently fallen trees. The beetle digs into the wood, but does not feed on it, perforating it for a distinctive feel.
The great color streaks originate from the Ambrosia beetle that burrows its way through the wood while leaving mineral traces. Accumulation of the mineral layer results in striking patterns and colors.
