Updating a small kitchen has its challenges as you have to try fit as much into the space but still keep it functional. I find galley style kitchens work well as you don't have any corner cupboards which in the ned becomes dead space.
Making use of light coloured above counter cupboards and simple plain mosaics also helps to make the space seem bigger and more open.
