A long distance move prompted this couple to make a complete change from
traditional to contemporary in their new home. The custom built home offered open plan living with soaring ceilings, which appealed to the client’s desire for streamlined decorating style. The items the client wanted to keep in the space were area rugs and glass topped coffee table. The television was new and would stay in the space.

It was clear that the new space would not handle the existing number of pieces. As the clients and designer explored their needs, it was determined that the living room should accommodate entertaining only small groups, and allow for relaxing by the fire.

The client had many pieces of art, but needed help to cull through and decide what to keep.

The almost retired, active couple has one dog; the wife suffers from allergies
and prefers not to have fabric window coverings.

The floor plan started with a beautiful sectional with crisp lines in a sophisticated color palette. A contemporary leather chair with polished chrome base provides contrast. Floating the furniture ensures beauty from all points of entry into the space.

Existing art was hung above the fireplace to emphasize the height of the room.

The finished project reveals a beautiful room that meets the needs of the homeowners in a fresh contemporary style.
