The main entry door is an 8’ x 8’ pivot door made of steel and ipe wood. The Ipe wood is on both sides of the door with insulative foam in the center of the door. The foam provides both insulation and creates a thermal break from the exterior heat.

The great room seating is an L-shaped custom piece with seating built into back side of the sofa on each side.

Looking back towards the entry, the full height buffet balances the mass of main fireplace. TV and A/V equipment are off to the side allowing for easy viewing but out the main aesthetic axis of the home.

The main kitchen is a combination of real oak veneer and matte laminate cabinets. A textured wood ceiling delineates the kitchen area from the main living and dining areas. The raised area of the island is an oak cantilevered section that provides seating on each side.

The pantry off the kitchen acts as storage and a secondary prep and cooking space.

The dining room window wall is a folding door system which opens the dining room completely to the exterior and has motorized shades to control sun when needed.

A glass bridge connects the modern addition to the re-built historic home. A floating wood ceiling compresses the space from the taller entry and eventually opens again in the sitting room as one passes from the limestone entry structure to the brick historic home beyond.

Both bedrooms in the historic home open up to the backside of the sitting room. The owners refer to this as their sanctuary space. Built in bookshelves, family heirloom furniture pieces and accessories adorn this room. A custom rocking chair completes the space.

The main master suite is a simple yet elegant space. The wall papered bed wall separates the bedroom from the closet while balancing the opposite ship lap wall of the master bath.

The secondary master suite has a sliding barn entry door with built ins on either side.

The secondary master suite incorporates furniture and accessory elements from the homeowner’s farming heritage into the design.

The main space of the barn provides drive through RV storage and a side game room area with a folding door system that opens out to the courtyard.

Exposed trusses, wood beams, shiplap siding and ground concrete floors create the basic material palette of the barn.

The guest room in the barn is outfitted with a private bath, kitchenette and loft sleeping area.

The barn workshop doubles as an archery range. At the main wall, built in steel stair rungs provide access to the storage mezzanine above.

The outdoor kitchen anchors the west end of the courtyard. A steel, cantilevered trellis floats over the BBQ and outdoor kitchen island.

Star lights inside the pool help mirror the sky above. Floating benches on each side of the pool align with the window wall systems of the historic home and barn beyond.

The pool was designed to act as a water feature and reflecting pool when not in use but still have the depth and size needed for a family pool.
