strips of cedar were steamed in a sealed box for about 2 hours. They were then quickly placed in a curved mold, clamped tight, and allowed to cool & dry.

Cedar tongue and groove follows the arch of the purlins. The arch diameter matches that of the bricks over the doorway.

"Diminished bearing shoulder joint". The tenon extends into the vertical post mortise and is pinned in place with ipe hardwood dowels. A very strong joint used in traditional timber framing for about 1000 years or so.
