Custom Guest Bedroom
This guestroom was a challenge for a few different reasons: it was a small space with lower ceilings, had an unsightly functioning radiator, and aqua tiles on fireplace that we couldn’t change. We took our color inspiration from the duvet cover, a paisley design that blended neutral shades with plums and aqua. We painted the walls a neutral taupe, but made them exciting by using painting techniques executed by Jennifer Bertrand. Tonal, oversized peacock feathers were stenciled on all four walls, and a panel in a darker version of the taupe extended onto the ceiling behind the headboard to give the appearance of a higher ceiling. We built a radiator cover that not only was aesthetically pleasing, but created another surface for display in the small room. An original piece of art by Bertrand featuring shades of aqua and plum was hung on the wall across from the fireplace to balance the color.
