In the Sycon Maitri house all spaces are modeled around the dining space as it is here that the family likes to spend a lot.....eating, chatting and playing board games. The dining space is the heart and the soul of the house ! For this food loving family, it was equally important to make the kitchen a warm, comfortable and beautiful space. A small breakfast nook in the kitchen makes it fun to gather around. Activity and circulation spaces are physically separated, yet visually connected. All spaces are scaled to give a feeling of warmth, comfort and coziness. This was achieved with the use of warm colors on walls, extensive use of wood in built-ins and furniture, fabric, textures in different surfaces, and lighting. We wanted to capture the cooling Bangalore breeze, and create bright and happy spaces. This is achieved with lots of glazing, both operable and fixed. There is plenty of cross ventilation, which keeps the spaces cool and comfortable.
