Decatur Craftsman
This project began in concept as a remodel to add a second story to a Decatur bungalow, but the original home had such a poor foundation, the owner decided to demo the house and start from scratch. Interestingly, the muse for this design was a project in New Jersey the homeowner found on Houzz called Surfer's End ( http://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/1119875/list/houzz-tour-a-modern-take-on-arts-and-crafts). The homeowner spared no expense in getting the details right from custom stairs, to built-ins, to cabinetry, tile, windows, rift sawn white oak floors, and much more. This home won the City of Decatur Historic Preservation Commission's 2015 Design Award for Sustainable Design and Energy Efficiency.
