Designer Morris County Kitchen Remodel
* This Kitchen Won A 2015 NARI Contractor of the Year Award *
This home, built in 1992, had a kitchen with lacquer cabinets and laminate countertops which was a modern look at the time. Twenty years later, the new owner wanted her vision of a modern kitchen. The project plan also included a makeover for the great room, including a wet bar, and built-in cabinetry for the adjacent family room.
To incorporate the homeowner’s wish list item of a large dine-at island instead of the existing peninsula the plan included removing the rear, structural wall and extending the kitchen two feet into the existing great room. This was not an easy task. Obviously a header beam was required, plus the floor framing needed to be extended, but also reconfiguration of the heat/cooling ducts, electrical, and plumbing was necessary.
The final result is a modern, gourmet kitchen featuring professional grade appliances, cherry wood cabinets, super white quartzite countertops, butcher block top in the island, glass tile backsplash, under cabinet lighting and outlets, pantry cabinetry instead of closest…and more!
The great room now has an amazing bar that includes a sink, refrigerator, and kegerator. The countertop is comprised of Lapis Lazuli, a form of granite that contains semi-precious stones. The fireplace was refaced with Island Stone cladding tiles to match the bar area. A separate ductless mini-split heating and air conditioning unit was added and the media center was updated.
The project also features built-in cabinetry, new gas fireplaces, and a media center for the family room. The foyer was upgraded with black marble floor tiles and a wood entry door with stained glass.
The project was designed, developed, and sold by the Design Build Pros. The craftsmanship was from ProSkill Construction.
