Confronted with a house that was closed off to the outdoors, the owner's wanted to change the personality of this Kaalawai Beach home and take it back to the gracious elegance of kama'aina style living. The renovation opened up the kitchen and other living areas to the ocean allowing the owners to enjoy the coastline views and take advantage of natural daylight. The redesigned home creates shady places to gather outdoors and the cool island breezes eliminate the need for air-conditioning.
