This client wanted a place for their mother to live part time as well as a garage, but space was limited. There was a flood plane in the back yard, so we had to build the back of it on caissons to keep it above the flood levels. Without a stove in the kitchen, this is considered a finished detached structure and not an ADU. If it was a true ADU, it would have it's own house address, a complete kitchen and it would be further off the property line.
