Double Island Renovation

This project was a renovation from small galley kitchen to a an open floor plan design. We had to overcome the obstacle of the header being left for support. The support column is cleverly concealed inside one of the island towers with room left for spice storage.

The real challenge to this kitchen was to open the plan while maintaining the proper support. I concealed one of the support columns inside the tower cabinets on the cooking island. It also houses easy access to spices. The towers and faux cornice create a focal point while allowing the header...

This is the before shot of this galley style kitchen... Believe it or not! The wall in the background as well as the wall to the right were removed to create an open plan.

The two islands provide completely different functions. One is for prep, sercvice and clean-up while the other provides everything a cook needs at her fingertips. The refrigerator drawers provide refreshments without walking into the prep area.

The storage wall includes a full-depth tall cabinet for easy access to serveware and glass ware, the coffee-bar, refrigeration, pull-out pantry, appliance pantry, and craft closet.

These gorgeous iron and linen doors were custom made to conceal a crafting closet on the right and an appliance pantry on the left.
