Downsizers Dream House

After finding this Tudor beauty in a favorite neighborhood; it was delightful to work with our client to create a stylish, efficient kitchen. We opened views to the garden...a passion for our client...and pushed out where we could. Crisp, clean lines were established with white cabinets, quartz countertops, stainless appliances and marble mosaic tiles.

Space has been maximized in this elegant yet fun galley kitchen. The custom inset cabinets were brought up to the ceiling, shallow depth cabinets and wide, deep drawers achieved a variety of storage options. The harlequin patterned stained floor added a fanciful touch.

The sink wall is framed by matching wall cabinets with cooktop and D-shaped undermount sink. The garden are viewed through the new cottage style casement windows. A modern stainless hood is surrounded by a wall of delicate green and white marble mosaic tiles.

A small closet area is used for oven cabinet space. Aware of limited entryway space, we were still able to create a coffee station and TV area, tucked in the corner with shallow 9" deep upper and 16" deep base cabinets.

Custom white inset cabinets with paneled sides (shown here) were chosen. A faceted lighting fixture echoes the angles of the harlequin patterned stained floor done by a local artist.

Glasses and drinks are stored in this shallow base cabinet, used to support the side of a dishwasher. When ending a run of base cabinets, their 24" depth can often be best accessed from the side. With limited space available on this run, a 6" deep cabinet was custom made.

The shallow 6" deep inset base cabinet, supporting the dishwasher, offers many options for storage of glasses & bottles (shown here) or pantry items. A D-shaped undermount sink overlooks the gardens through the new casement windows.
