There is more to the historic Adams Ingraham house than the stunning architecture and breathtaking landscape. Built in 1808, this property originally adjoined American statesman’s John Laurens’ home. As a tribute to John Laurens’ childhood the current owners fondly refer to their carriage house as The Laurens’ Carriage House. The Laurens’ Carriage House overlooks no details in its beautiful preservation of the home’s rich history. The interior features horseshoe nails from the 1800s in the half timbers as well as original tabby and mortar on the walls. Handmade baskets adorn the walls in a beautiful tribute to the Gulluh culture. In addition, seashells and seahorse details honor the sea because of the home’s close proximity to the Low Country coastline.

The Adams Ingraham house was restored in the mid 1970s and has been thoughtfully maintained and updated since then. The home miraculously withstood a 1976 fire which came close to destroying the property. Remnants of the fire remain in the exposed beams, an exemplification and reminder of the strength and character of the home.
