This staircase replaces an old carpeted stair to a lower level. The entire staircase was taken apart down to the stringer framing. It has new solid natural prefinished treads and risers, hickory plywood that covers the original stringers, and solid hickory trim. The flooring at the landing is also 3/4" thick solid prefinished natural hickory flooring.
The railing at the top replaces an old half-wall. The railing is custom made from solid hickory 4x4 posts and 2x cross rails, with 3/8" tempered clear glass panels. The railing posts are anchored deep into the floor framing and bolted into place, making for an extremely firm railing. It is not going anywhere.
