The great challenge of this triplex loft renovation in the historic Eagle Warehouse & Storage Building was limited natural light. The massive bearing walls meant that little natural light filtered into the interior of the space. We focused instead on new lighting and thoughtful placement of artwork, tactile yet modern finishes, and a warm but streamlined esthetic. We reorganized the kitchen to engage more completely with the Dining area, unified the main living spaces with a new cork floor, and created moments of drama with accent paint. Upstairs we conceived cabinetry in lieu of the required guard rail transforming an awkwardly wide hallway into a signature storage piece. The columns required hours of stripping to allow the craftsmanship of their 19th century masonry to shine through and are a unifying element on all three floors.
