Eckner Project - Cincinnati, OH
This project was recently completed, by the KBC Home Modification Division, for a veteran with ALS and was funded thru the VA. We worked with the veteran and his wife to create a large rear composite deck that is wheelchair accessible from the home. This includes a new door with ADA sill installed to replace the existing window from the bedroom to the maintenance resistant, composite deck with aluminum railing, and a concrete ramp and sidewalk to the front of the home. The existing master bedroom suite was redesigned to accommodate current and future needs. The existing master bathroom was expanded to include the existing master walk-in closet and make modifications to now include a barrier-free shower, an ADA toilet and a roll-under vanity sink with enough room to maneuver a wheelchair. The bathroom floor is a ceramic tile that goes directly into the shower to create a barrier-free shower for easy access with a shower chair. The shower walls are cultured marble for easy cleaning. We have installed grab bars in the shower and at the toilet to provide needed support for the veteran and his caregiver.
