For the sitting room in this 1930 American Foursquare, we focused on adding back much of the original character which had been stripped from the home over years of renovations. This included opening the original chimney column in order to accommodate an electric fireplace insert, and sourcing an antique wooden mantel. New built-in shelving and lower cane front cabinets were constructed to flank the feature fireplace, while all new carpentry and existing trim was painted a soothing green to unify the elements. The original pocket door hardware was cleaned and restored to reveal a stunning original copper tone, which is complimented by the addition of a rust velvet sofa, vintage club chairs, and Craftsman-inspired floral motif wallpaper. An original light fixture was also repurposed from another room in the home.
