A sophisticated architectural concept for a sophisticated family, the husband and wife of this large custom home were at opposite ends of the spectrum when it came to their dream home. So, a solution was reached by creating a "history" of the home which explained the two very different vernaculars of architecture.

The Cotswold style embraced the strength and longevity/historical presence that the husband desired, while the Modern Contemporary clean lines spoke to the minimalistic and non-cluttered architecture that the wife was hoping for. The "history" of the home is one of a very old, rustic European Cotswold Cottage, one seen and the other in the rear, that had been on the site for centuries. Having been purchased by new owners, they wanted to keep the old historical buildings on the property while bringing about a sense of modern living. Bridging the space between the two old structures, a modern interpretation of luxury living was built in between and the old cottages renovated on the inside to meld with the interior of the space.
