Escondido Front Yard
All the principals of the an Ocean Friendly Garden was applied to this front yard in Escondido, California.
The rain chains direct the rain water that falls onto the roof of the new covered patio to dry creek bed that runs along the entire length of the front yard. The creek bed slows the water down while allowing it to be spread and soaked into the garden soil. Juncus and ornamental grasses are planted inside the river bed and work to clean the water.
After the heavy rains of the 2016 winter, no water left the property and the garden was able to hold on to this precious resource.
