Family Friendly Basement transformation

This multi-use space was designed for a family looking for an “escape.” It was created from the cement on up and is considered a transitional space designed with varying zones in mind - home theater, bar, open play space (future pool table), games or homework area, etc.

It features a subtle coastal-cottage style that helps to lighten up long mid-western winters. The beach palette inspiration came from a small east coast fishing port - deep blue seas, weathered gray and white structures with sandy earth and natural tones sprinkled in. The playful pops of yellow gives the spaces some life - perfect for this family with young children. Given the low ceilings and lack of natural light, it was essential to make the space feel as bright and airy as possible - mirrors and strategic lighting help to achieve this feel. Multiple built-ins help to give the space a custom high-end feel while providing much needed storage and functionality.

There are many cost-saving and DIY projects featured in this space which helps to provide "life" and energy - gives it that "lived in" vibe; round mirrored sconces, armoire door coffee table, chair cushions, bathroom vanity and artwork just to name a few.
