Farnham House
This warm and inviting home was given the first LEED for Homes Canada Platinum designation in the greater Toronto area, setting the bar quite high for other projects to follow. No aspect of construction was overlooked with respect to ensuring the building was the best possible living environment for the happy owners.
Reclaimed brick from an ignored factory in Detroit, reclaimed Fir floor joists and decking from a WWII era aircraft hanger near Ottawa, no VOC products, all LED lighting, a 5kW PV array, geothermal heat pumps, all non-reclaimed wood FSC designated, passive venting through stack effect, passive shading design...
The project was extremely well executed by South Park Design Build, and was featured in EcoHouse Canada, SABHomes, North American Builders, Green Building & Sustainable Strategies. It also received recognition from the CaGBC, being awarded the 'Innovation in LEED' award in 2013.
