The site for this project is a narrow beachfront lot with panoramic views of the Puget Sound and the Cascade Mountains beyond. The 2,500 square foot house was designed as a minimalist counterpoint to protect and preserve the fragile nature of the two existing rustic cabins that share the site. The house is a series of sequential spaces that slowly unveil themselves. Exterior courtyards and interior spaces weave together and constantly blur the relationship between outside and inside. This project was the sole recipient of a 2003 Washington State American Institute of Architects (AIA) Honor Award and received a 2003 AIA Northwest Honor Award.
