Some of the terms and products used to describe hand painted finishes might be confusing to you. Faux Finishing or Faux Painting is a common term you will often hear which comes from the French word "faux" meaning "false". The term is used to describe painting a surface to look like something it isn't. This job is a good example of a faux marble finish in which wood paneling is painted to look like marble.
