The design of this family home is inspired by the rich, textural landscape and simple agrarian structures of Napa Valley. Carefully sited within an existing clearing of a pinot noir grape vineyard, this cluster of buildings includes a 6,000 SF main house and pool, artist studio, separate guest house bungalows and a world-class wine cellar. The stair tower acts as a convective chimney to allow warmer air to naturally raise and passively cool the house. The energy needs for the house are minimized by the passive solar concrete slab design. A photo voltaic array is projected to provide for its full energy needs.
