Country: United States
This fireplace was a fun challenge. The customer called and said they had 26 pieces of marble, and no picture or directions of how it went together. After lots of measuring and calculating the work was begun and ultimately completed. The customer was very pleased as was I.

After viewing multiple photos and designs, this fireplace was created from some local limestone from Fischer Stone. The Black Marble surround is one piece. The arc on the hearth mirrors the arc on the limestone lintel.

Occasionally we install some thin veneer stone using the drystack method. This photo is of a work in progress. We have done several of these, and typically they take about 2 square feet per hour to complete.

Cut and mitered a box of 3/4" Jerusalem limestone slab with recessed panels for the hearth, and crafted a recessed panel on the lintel. This was an existing fireplace in a house built around 1910, that needed repair and dressing up.

The customer was influential in the design of this Jerusalem Grey limestone slab fireplace. Recessed panels, multi layers, and a mantel large enough to show some artwork.

We used the thin veneer stone from Fischer Stone, for this fireplace. The hearth, mantel, and corbels , were custom made from slab and block material. Each piece of veneer is custom cut to minimize the size of the joints.

This fireplace is in one of my previous houses. There was a ceramic tile surround and hearth with a skimpy wood mantel that was attached with about 100 nails. I broke a hole in the drywall in trying to remove the wood surround and made the stone mantel large enough to cover the hole! It all worked...

This is a memorable fireplace. We cut the 3cm limestone slabs to look like big blocks of stone. The customer cried when she saw the finished product. "I didn't know it was going to look so beautiful", she said.
