Five Star Painting: Modernize the Look
Here is a portfolio of several projects that Five Star Painting did to modernize the look.
THE FIRST HOME - in Gahanna, OH - was approximately 30 years old. Homeowners are a young couple and attempt to do most home repairs themselves. They had spent several weeks replacing trim boards etc. and didn’t have any time left to paint their entire home AND spend time with their family.
I met with them to discuss what they wanted to do and they were certain they couldn't afford our services. I worked very hard to put a solution together that would meet their needs and budget.
The house was brick with wood trim and T-111 wood siding – in pretty rough condition. We applied Sherwin Williams WoodScapes premium acrylic solid color stain to all surfaces painted. In some areas we were required to apply up to four coats for the desired coverage and finish.
Body of the house – Sherwin Williams custom matched a Behr color (Rustic Taupe), trim- SW Modern Gray 7632; Front door- Raisin 7630.
THE SECOND HOME - a very large stucco home in Baltimore, OH. This one was in good condition, but the homeowners hated the look, especially the dark red trim.
There were some cracks starting in the stucco and about a 3” by 60” repair was needed where the workers that put the drive in damaged the stucco. The house was about 8 years old.
We repaired the damaged stucco and caulked any of the larger cracks. We found that the builder had not caulked areas that should be caulked to keep the house “weather tight”. We explained what the issues were and suggested that they might want us to caulk these areas.
What we told them wasn't a surprise to the owners because during the two years that they lived there they had found other areas where shortcuts had been taken. We had to charge four hundred dollars in addition to the original estimate, but the home owners felt that the additional charge was worth it.
We used Sherwin Williams LoxonXP, a sealer, paint and primer designed especially for stucco and masonary. It seals the surface for maximum weather protection and provides for an exceptionally aesthetically appealing appearance. House Color – SW Tony taupe 7038. We used SW SuperPaint Satin finish for the trim color – Aesthetic White SW 7035 and for the front door we used Duration Satin finish color – Raisin 7630
The last two images are of a small project to repaint a dormer on a roof. The homeowner just wanted a new modern look that complimented the roofing better.
Our career painters are prepared to tackle your project as well, whether large or small. Give us a call today for a FREE in home estimate.
