A client asked for a sophisticated modern fire place, and this is what we came back with... The fire box was custom fabricated to house the burner element and was coated in a black ceramic coating. The flue was designed to integrate the structural suspension as well as gas lines, exhaust and a custom built damper. The hearth and mantle show off the range of finish that raw steel can have - the hearth is waxed hot rolled steel, the pattern is a result of the manufacturing process and differs from piece to piece lending an organic feel to an otherwise industrial material. The wall cladding behind has had a chemical patina applied to create the orange and brown coloration. A clear coat brings out the color and creates a glossy surface.
