French chateau

Since this kitchen was part of a larger addition, the challenge for Mariette Barsoum of Divine Kitchens was to maintain the scale and proportion of the new space while creating a grand, yet welcoming ambiance. To accomplish this task, the designers incorporated visually appealing elements and a mix of finishes that blend into one French inspired creation.
The room features three different finishes, including a deep mahogany stain on cherry for the perimeter and a silvery green paint on the island. Large in scale, the island anchors the kitchen and boasts a flip-up retractable door to house the microwave. Finished with detailed panels, base moulding, interesting corbels, arched toes, and angles, the back of the island displays much visual interest. The hutch, which appears as a freestanding piece of furniture, displays the third finish.

Also visually arresting is the hood and arch design over the window, and the refrigerator fashioned after an armoire. The hand-painted backsplash mural, a
representation of the view the homeowner had while at a villa in France, is recessed into a niche and framed with White Thassos marble. A simple mix of iron and retrained crystal, custom draperies, and custom-designed Parsons chairs tops off this delightful space.
