The new owners of this 1927 traditional Tudor in University Hills requested renovations to the kitchen and baths. Recent remodeling attempts had turned the home into a hodge-podge of disconnected design styles. The new owners appreciated the stately quality of their home and requested updates honoring the original character.

One of the primary concerns of the new owners was the lack of an Owner’s Suite. Like so many homes of this age, there was no en suite bath, and closet space was less than adequate. A cluster of small closets was converted into a modest en suite bath with a double vanity. Other space was utilized to create a large walk-in closet.

The kitchen too was a concern for the owners. The layout of the kitchen was updated, as well as the furnishings and finishes. Modern amenities were introduced with traditional detailing. Care was used to incorporate historical elements in the renovation. For instance, french doors from the Breakfast Room were reused between the kitchen and dining room. Tasteful color and pattern selections speak to the past and bring harmony to the home. No more a mod podged hodge-podge, but instead a perfect balance of old and new.
