Gray Shades--Bath

This contemporary high-rise condo bath was in need of some updating. Throughout the existing living space, a low-key color scheme was used, which made its way into this renovated guest bath. An "homage to James Turrell" back-lighted mirror provided illumination for the vanity area.

Storage space was carved out of the original bathtub area, creating a shower with grab bar and seat.

The grab bar gives added stability and can provide hanging space for towels or wash cloths. The built-in quartz seat was a requested feature for this compact shower.

The clean, frameless mirror "floats" and is lit from behind. It simply lifts off the hanger if access to the lighting is needed. Indirect fluorescents behind the "homage to James Turrell" floating mirror cast a glow in the room. LED downlights are used elsewhere.

A full-length mirror doubles as the door to the full-height storage cabinet behind it--carved out of what was originally the bathtub.

Frameless shower doors operate on contemporary roller hardware. (A plumbing access panel was needed behind the shower faucet and is concealed nearly seamlessly in the two marble tiles behind it.)

LED lighting underneath the cabinet and near the bottom of the mirror's edge provides safe access and soft light for night visitors.

The mirror floats in the recess providing soft, indirect task lighting. The light comes from all four edges of the mirror. Power outlets for shavers, toothbrush and telephone, are below the mirror in special niches.
