Green House

The Green House was conceived by John Plunkett and Barbara Kuhr, two of my clients for three historic Park City renovations. Mather executed the renovation of a four-square plan cottage. Unique to this is the truncated pyramid form which drove the roof shape of the bedroom wing addition located at the back of the home. The entire home was lifted approximately 24" while still adding a garage and two bedrooms beneath the 1890's home. All original interior walls and ceiling were removed to give way to a great room with office loft above and open on three sides to below. The original board sheathing and wood rafters were retained and restored and supported by a semi-elaborate steel structure that follows the outline of the building's perimeter. The loft and master bedroom are accessed by a frosted glass stairway and bridge with a refined steel guardrail. As typical with all their homes, refined and inexpensive materials set the canvas for the introduction of select mid-century modern furnishings. This home is featured in Spring 2015 Utah Style & Design magazine with photography by Scot Zimmerman.
