Groundwork+One Off Hospitality

Groundwork designed the outdoor spaces for One Off Hospitality's (recent James Beard recipients) Avec and Big Star restaurants. Working closely with Groundwork's vision we customized our GROW Modular system to fit the design goals. GROW Modular is a furniture grade modular garden component system consisting of planter, benches, furniture and site furnishings. Made from a variety of sustainable materials with contemporary style and unequaled durability.

Using our standard GROW Modular components, we customized the special site furnishings to meet client's needs. Black Locust( a locally milled wood hardwood well known for its longevity and is invasive where logged in Northern IL, win-win) finished with oil-resin.

Clean lines, simple sturdy design and craft make GROW Modular a great option for any residential situation. Black Locust can help bring down the demand for imported tropical hardwoods and all the environmental impacts associated with the logging, milling, transporting, etc.

A great way to treat a planter top. In tight spaces it can serve as counter area, the top removes for plant care or replacement. Black Locust can be stained to meet any design requirements, please consider using this material.

The wood, metal top(by other) and Groundwork's plant selection make for a vibrant and durable space. Black Locust has long been utilized by the Amish and Mennonite communities and is by far the most durable, rot resistant exterior grade domestic lumber. Hands down.
