A typical strip of unattractive turf between street and sidewalk (often referred to as a "hell strip") was turned into a slice of heaven with a mix of perennials and ornamental grasses that provide interest and color from spring through fall. Irrigation was snaked under the sidewalk and a small metal fence (about 8" high) was added to discourage animals and their owners.

The bees and butterflies appreciate the habitat and the dogs are guided away.
