Hindsight Rehearsal Studios
Designed to accommodate up to twelve bands at any given time, Hindsight was a particularly demanding project in terms of sound management. Walls, ceilings, and doors were custom designed and built to highest soundproofing standards. If you are standing in the hall, you will have a pretty good idea of what is happening in each room but, if you step into one of the studios and close the door, the din falls off immediately; you can still hear other groups playing but only as if they were at a great distance, allowing everyone to concentrate fully on their process.
Note that the actual soundproofing lies in the walls, ceilings, and doors themselves; these structures are designed and built with special materials that from entering or leaving the room. The black panels on the walls are custom-made acoustic treatments that dampen reverberation within the room; this is a an important feature for the purpose these rooms were built for but they do little to prevent sound from escaping or entering.
