Full kitchen remodel in an older home. The room had height and no character, so we started at the top: a stained tongue-and-groove plank ceiling, installed new, framed in white crown. It sets the warmth for everything below it.

From there, two-tone cabinetry — painted greige shaker uppers over stained cherry bases — so the wood on the ceiling has something to answer to. Marble-look quartz counters and a full-height slab backsplash behind the range keep the upper half light.

The backsplash on the sink wall is a ceramic tile with an embossed tin-panel pattern — the look of salvaged pressed tin without the maintenance. We carried it floor to ceiling and wrapped it around the window rather than stopping at the casing. Oversized hex floor tile with wide grout joints picks up the same aged quality.

Stainless apron-front sink with a commercial-style faucet, pot filler at the range, double wall ovens, and an integrated beverage fridge. Brass hardware throughout, with a lit glass-front cabinet for glassware.
