This meditative garden was a real challenge with limited root depth due to a massive California pepper tree, constant filtered shade, and limited space. The clients wanted a quiet, intimate, meditative space where they could escape in the afternoon. Yellow-green foliage is the dominant color. The only showy flowers come from the Leopard Plant (Farfugium), and only briefly. Random paving patterns of brick and flagstone, and intruding foliage force visitors to slow down and become aware of the garden.
