House on the River

Sited on a wooden bluff overlooking the Potomac River, this house for a young family is organized around three pavilions — one for family living, one for sleeping, and one for a significant library of 40,000 books. The house is tucked behind a stone wall, presenting a low profile to the street, and steps down with the terrain to open the glazed pavilion ends to the wooded river view.
