Huntcliff Cliff Master Bath

This master bath was trapped in the 80's with carpet and cultured marble everywhere! Oh, lets not loose site of the large swan tub faucet!

This was the only room left in the home that the client hadn't renovated. We were delighted that the client choose us after vetting designers and builders for several years.

Design Challenge:

Without a doubt the first challenge was to update the entire space and to get the toilet from in front of the window that is located on the front of the home. We moved the tub towards the window and created a water closet for the toilet so that the client could have more privacy in the bath.

The steam shower was the next challenge. This was a tile box with a 24" glass door. It was tight and dank, but we didn't have the space to increase the size of the shower, so we elected to open up the walls and raise the ceiling.

As you can see the space opened up but we actually made the room smaller by adding the water closet. Yet the space still feels open by using some simple design elements. By selecting vanity cabinets that were more like a piece of furniture also helped to expand the space visually by having the open space below. The oval window and frosted glass door on the water closet allow light to flood into the space helping it not feel like a closet. The light filled space is enhanced by the new heated floor system. It was a splurge but the client is so happy they didn't cut it from the project. Given the space was previously all carpet, the heated floor was strongly suggested so as to maintain comfort.

The clients stated "It was a journey to get to the end, but the end result was well worth the time and investment. We enjoy every minute that we are in the bathroom, it's a great space to start and end your day"
