Inspired to Journey

This room was designed for a boy who is very curious, loves to read, and is inspired to travel the world. The space needed to be grown up enough to take him all the way through high school years, but not feel too adult for a kid to hang out in with friends. A custom headboard and platform bed were built tying together a traditional look with a modern twist. The map over the bed is an actual classroom map dating back to the 1960's. The clean lines of the bookshelves pull your eye up, giving this smaller bedroom a feeling of more space as well as adding lots of storage for books and treasures collected over the years. We found a reading chair that reminded us of a vintage automobile seat, and added a little stool for any friends. We gave him a large custom desk for studying and added hex shelves above that speak to the geometric shapes used throughout and also give him a place to display his trophies and other finds. A cute mid-century print of an icosahedron reminds you of a modern interpretation of the earth.
