Interior - Wood Railing with Wrought Iron Balusters
Balusters occupy the largest visual area of most railing systems and wrought iron balusters allow the most versatility in design. This is due partially to the fact that there are a huge variety of individual balusters available. Additionally, while wood balusters, cable, glass, etc., often consist of a single component that is repeated throughout the balustrade, typically several different but complimentary wrought iron balusters are used to create a larger pattern that continues through out the system. Wrought iron balusters can then be used in a full iron system, or more often in interior applications, a system that combines the wood components with the iron balusters. The addition of wood to the system allows for generally larger, more comfortable and warmer handrails. The wood also creates more rich, warmer tones and is more easily tied in with other hardwood components of the home such as trim, hardwood floors, furniture, etc. Here are a few examples of our projects that illustrate the flexibility using these two mediums in concert.
