This home, Jeté, was designed and built as a speculative home in the modern, single-family neighborhood of Urban Reserve. Situated along the eastern edge of one of Urban Reserve’s Ponds, the home stretches across the site and forms a series of exterior spaces that interlock the interior and exterior.

A long, sheltering pitched roof extends over the spaces to form a ridge that is high enough to relate to the large three-story residence situated to the north and yet slopes low enough at the east and west eaves to relate to the scale of the single-story neighbor to the south. Within the interior, the roof form creates a variety of ceilings heights extending the volume of the space within the home.

Large overhangs push past the building walls to add protection to the house from the sun and rain. Walls are constructed from a local Texas stone mix to produce a rugged, permanent quality to the house. A sentinel outdoor stone fireplace and chimney sits on axis with a shared bridge, further relating to the height of the neighbor while forming a landmark that splits the circulation between residences.
