This splendid kitchen offers a transitional answer to an otherwise very traditional home. With most of the original footprint intact, the cooktop was moved off the island to a more focal position at the rear of the room, while the refrigerator and double ovens were repositioned to the adjacent wall. The bar area was reconfigured for a small wine fridge and more consolidated storage. At the same time, downsizing and modernizing the pendant lighting gives the room a lighter and more open feeling. The striking backsplash on 2 walls offers color and interest, tying in with the existing travertine floor.
