Adding a second story master suite and a front porch to an existing L-shaped ranch allowed us opportunities to give a new face to the house while honoring the spirit of the original. We reused much of the existing structure and upgraded the insulation, windows, and energy systems. The area for photovoltaic panels is maximized on the south-facing roofs.
