The owners of this lovely residence contacted me with an idea to provide themselves, family and friends with better kitchen seating. The existing "breakfast bar" top was installed with granite to match throughout the space. It quite narrow, approximately 7" in width, and did not have sufficient enough overhang for stool seating. Below the existing top was drywall and a simple molding. The solution was to go bigger and bolder. With 2" thick Mahogany, 20" deep to comfortably suit stool seating/dining, detailed panels below, the space not only is functional, it is now the focal point of the dining/kitchen area.
